That's horrible:(((( What can people do to make a change in these regulations? What do you think how do lions? tolerate cold weather and snow? I've just seen videos from zoos (here in my country) where they keep them in small cages outside at winter and they train them (operant conditioning). I wish every big cat could live in Big Cat Rescue it's my dream place, I want to make an intership badly, but I'm from Europe:/ Thanks all of you for that place!

Some states do have ...
Some states do have regulations which are appalling - they only require there be enough room? for the cats to stand up and turn around in! Florida is one of the states with the strictest rules and an example of that is you need a 20ft x 10ft space to house two 400lb tigers! This is also ridiculous these animals roam hundreds of square miles in the wild and the conditions they are kept in around the country are deplorable :(

They're not a 'mated' pair, they were rescued together, and since they are so close, BCR fixed them both and then left them together as long as they don't fight. It? explains it better in the description. Hope that helped. :P

It's so great to see a place where big cats are happy and get proper living territory and care! It breaks my heart to see other big cats in little cages? in my country:((( Isn't there some regulation on how much living space should they assure to a big cat?

Can I see the source? I know most zoos don't engage in these programs, especially not for big cats, so it's probably pretty close, but I don't believe it's? that high. But yes, education is important, but where the populations for some of these cats is so low, breeding programs can ensure the numbers go up, and not down.

The truth is that 99.9% of all captive bred cats will never see the wild. Habitat needs to? be conserved and local people need to be educated if this is done wild cats will take care of themselves.

That's what ...
That's what breeding programs are for; good well funded zoos and sanctuaries will often participate in these when they have animals with good genetics? and variation; some even have 'trading' programs (generally involves exchanging semen)! It's really cool to look into actually. Their goals are to repopulate the wild, so they'll often work with reserves as well.
